Dear Haiti Friends,
I am sorry to share with you word of the passing of the Rev. Pere Berthold Phanord.  Please see the letter below from Pere Kesner Gracia and the attached announcement from the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti.  I know that many of you have worked as partners with him in his various assignments.

Subject: Announcement of the Passing of the Reverend Father Berthold Phanord

Dear Canon Serena,

Peace of the Lord be with you.

It is with profound sorrow that I write to inform you that the clergy and the Episcopal Church of Haiti are mourning the passing of our brother and fellow laborer in the Lord’s vineyard, the Reverend Father Berthold Phanord.

His departure leaves a deep void within our Diocese, especially in the community of the Good Samaritan in Bondeau, Nippes Department, Haiti, where he faithfully and devotedly exercised his pastoral ministry.

Attached to this message, please find the official statement issued by the Standing Committee of the Diocese. We would be most grateful if you could kindly share this sad news with our diocesan partners, particularly those who supported Father Berthold’s ministry and the mission of the Bondeau community.

In this time of grief, we entrust his soul to God’s infinite mercy, sustained by the Christian hope of the Resurrection. We also pray that the Lord may grant comfort and strength to all who mourn his loss.

Please accept, dear Canon, the assurance of my respectful and fraternal regards.

 Sincerely in Christ,

 Père Gracia
